ABOUT US

My journey with Miniature Horses began in 2018, after a lifetime of owning and breeding full-sized horses. Like many, I initially saw Miniature Horses as simply cute, short, and usually not-so well bred animals, rather than would they truly could be. That perspective changed completely when I purchased my first Mini, Dannas Take a Chance on Me.

Chance had just been weaned and came from a reputable show breeder who introduced me to the world of Miniature Horse conformation, training, and competitive showing. I quickly learned that Minis can be elegant, refined, and athletic, just in a small package. I developed a strong passion for breeding and showing these remarkable horses! That passion led me to establish my own breeding program, Take a Chance Miniatures, named in honor of the horse who started it all.

Soon after, I added my first Miniature mare, an opinionated, spicy mare named Diamond. She challenged me in ways I hadn’t expected, teaching me the value of patience, consistency, and trust-building. With time, she transformed into a confident and affectionate mare, still opinionated, but with a heart of gold. She arrived in foal to a Multi-National Champion and Hall of Fame Stallion, and raising and training that first foal was an unforgettable experience!

Today, I’m blessed with a small, carefully selected herd and an ever-growing passion for Miniature Horses. I continue to study bloodlines, improve my training methods, and learn everything I can to better my program. This is a journey I know I’ll be on for a lifetime!
